A washed Ethiopian coffee from Yirgacheffe with citrusy sparkle and floral finesse. Sourced from the high-elevation Worka Sakaro washing station in Gedeb, this organic lot is all elegance. Think lemon bars, lavender, and orange zest in a crème brûlée crust. Exceptional as a pour over or Chemex.

Origin: Yirgacheffe, Gedeb District, Gedeo Zone, Ethiopia
Washing Station: Worka Sakaro
Process: Fully washed, dried on raised beds
Altitude: 2000–2200 masl
Certifications: Organic
Tasting Notes: Lemon bars, crème brûlée, lavender, orange zest
Best for: Pour over, Chemex, AeroPress, drip

This washed Ethiopia Yirgacheffe coffee comes from the Rako kebele in Gedeb, a high-altitude community known for producing some of the country’s most delicate and complex coffees. The Worka Sakaro washing station, established in 2017, partners with smallholder farmers who grow indigenous heirloom varieties on tiny farms nestled between 2000–2200 meters above sea level.

What makes this coffee special? It’s the perfect storm of elevation, biodiverse growing conditions, and careful processing. After harvest, ripe coffee cherry is delivered by foot or motorcycle to the washing station, where it’s pulped, fermented, and washed using fresh mountain water, then dried on raised beds for optimal clarity and structure. The result is a cup that balances sweetness and citrus with floral lift, like biting into a lavender-kissed lemon bar.

The farmers in Rako intercrop coffee with false banana and nitrogen-fixing acacia trees, helping preserve soil health without chemical inputs. Lot separation and traceability are prioritized at the station, and sustainable water treatment practices are in place.

If you’re looking for a washed Ethiopian coffee with complexity, clarity, and character, this is it.
